Been sharing a lot of skincare & makeup faves on instagram, and I felt like I was neglecting here a little bit :(. Anyway here's a new segment - #SKINDIARIES. Every two weeks, people will be sharing their skin journey, their holy grail products and their routine. We all have different skin types, so I feel like this way you might be able to relate to someones routine more than another, and see new products you might want to try. The first feature is my bestie Leke Subair @tlekss who has really beautiful skin (i am literally in awe every time, she is constantly GLOW-ING). She shares her morning and night routine as well as one skincare product she can NOT live without.
WHAT IS YOUR SKIN TYPE & DO YOU HAVE ANY MAJOR SKIN CONCERNS?
Leke: I have combination skin, it is VERY combined, so i have to always ensure i’m using the right balance of exfoliation v. hydration. I also have a bit of hyperpigmentation, which is why i’m big on exfoliants.
WHAT DOES YOUR MORNING ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?
I cleanse with the Bodyshop vitamin c daily glow cleansing polish.
Tone either with good old Boots Glycerine & Rose water or the Pixi Vitamin C tonic.
I apply the tiniest amount of the Inkey List’s hyaluronic acid serum because - hydration!
Double up with Clarins double serum (in winter) or the body shops Drops of light brightening serum (it's lighter so i use it in the summer or when i'm in Lagos because its so hot)
I moisturise with Kiehl’s ultra facial cream and finish off with the La Roche Posay ultra light fluid sunscreen ( never leave my house without sunscreen).
IS THERE ANYTHING IN PARTICULAR YOU FOCUS ON IN YOUR ROUTINE?
Leke: I would say i focus mostly on layering hydration, its the key to my radiance, heheeee
ONE SKINCARE PRODUCT THAT YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?
Leke: Body Shop’s Himalayan Charcoal Mask, it has been a constant in my routine for as long as I can remember. I use it atleast once a week. It decongests and softens my skin and just makes it feel squeaky clean.
WHAT IS YOUR NIGHTTIME ROUTINE?
I cleanse with the Bodyshop Camomile silky cleansing oil.
Then using the 60 second rule (which totally changed my life) I use Arami’s Onyx polish as my deep cleanser.
I then tone either with the Pixi glow or retinol tonic
Again, I apply the Inkey’s list hyaluronic acid serum
Then Body Shops Vitamin E overnight serum oil
I finish off by moisturising with the body shop vitamin e moisture cream
And believe it or not, i seal it all off with the tiniest bit of raw shea butter , in the morning, i wake up GLOW-ING ! and Never ever crusty
DESCRIBE YOUR SKIN JOURNEY IN A FEW WORDS.
Leke: I’ve always had relatively good skin , but introducing consistency and balance has made it even better. Softening my skin, improving texture and overall evenness. So I would say my skincare journey has been satisfying.
A PRODUCT OR PROCEDURE THAT YOU’LL NEVER TRY
Leke: Product wise, I will never try pore strips , they just look extremely painful and unnecessary
You guys already know I STAN hydration, it is really the key to having great skin. Hydration & consistency all 2020 (since miss rona doesn't wanna let me out).
Hope you enjoyed this!
